Wojciech Korfanty’s talents did not only manifest in strictly political activities. Although it would be hard to consider the beginnings of his economic activity successful, in time he proved to be a talented entrepreneur. An example of his good knowledge of the social realities of the market was an innovative way of combining elements of political advertising with product supply, for instance, the sales of spirits under the name of ‘Korfantówka’. He knew that the key to Silesia’s prosperity was industry. Using the position of the President of the Supervisory Board of Bank Śląski and the Polish-French company Skarboferm, he cooperated with the largest potentate in the region, which was the Upper Silesian Union of Mining and Metallurgy Industrialists. The role of the main initiator of economic policy required him to obtain sufficient funds, which made up the bulk of the accusations he faced later. He used the obtained funds to make various investments, including many press titles, especially Polonia.
